A Circle is Cast--Libana
Libana is a longstanding vocal ensemble devoted to women's music.
Yuu from Hikaru no Go Original Soundtrack 1
I believe I bought this from either Right Stuf International or Anime Castle.
Eyecatch from Descendants of Darkness/Yami no Matsuei Original Soundtrack: Also an RSI or Anime Castle purchase.
Drop of Water/Traditional Song--Dana Lyons
Dana Lyons is a singer-songwriter and hardy environmental activist whom I first heard perform when I was in college (we share an alma mater, but he was five years ahead of me). See also his site Cows with Guns.
Waterloo--ABBA
I've had the source album (ABBA Gold) on tape since 1994--actually bought it during a visit to Sweden!--but recently acquired it on CD as well, probably from a brick-and-mortar store. I first heard their music around age nine when I was living in Tonga with my parents--I can still remember hearing the strains of "Super Trouper" wafting from the little store kitty-corner from our house. ^^
A Thousand Miles--Vanessa Carlton
Got it at Borders. First really got to know the song through an anime music video focused on the character Anzu Mazaki/Téa Gardner of Yu-Gi-Oh! It's surprisingly appropriate to her character and to her relationship with Yami no Yuugi.
If I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof--got the CD at some music store or other. First saw the movie in the South Pacific; it left a profound impression on me.
From Me to You--Beatles. Tower Records.
EYES (TV-Size) from Yu-Gi-Oh! Sound Duel 4. RSI or Anime Castle, I *think*.
Yesterday--Beatles, from same album as "From Me to You."
Confrontation from Descendants of Darkness/Yami no Matsuei Original Soundtrack.
Deja Blue from Into the Sky: Vision of Escaflowne Original Soundtrack. This one I got from Joy's Japanimation. I think it may be the first anime soundtrack I ever purchased!
"Eternal Flame--The Bangles I got from Tower Records on a Love Songs of the 80s compilation CD.
Family--Dar Williams. Another I-forget-which-store purchase. I first heard this song in the company of a beloved friend and one-time roommate of mine who died at age twenty-five, nearly six years ago. Forevermore, it's one of the songs I associate with her; another is "Sing, O Barren One" as performed by Sweet Honey in the Rock.
And, while I'm at it, here's another music-sharing meme (got this one from
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Do you trust my taste in music? Pick around three numbers from 1 to 623 and I'll find the corresponding song in my playlist. I'll upload it for you to grab. When you've gotten a song from me, go post this meme in your own journal, replace the number with the number of songs YOU have so I can grab a random song from you.
P.S. Thanks for the ones you sent me, Tuuli! Liked 'em all. ^^
