S'il faut donner son sang,
allez donner le vôtre,
vous êtes bon apôtre,
monsieur le Président.
Tonight, the memory of this song popped into my head. I'd heard it on a Peter, Paul and Mary album, but had never seen the lyrics, nor a translation.
It speaks my mind.

Date: 2005-02-26 03:21 pm (UTC)I like the verse you choose (I even managed to translate it almost completely on my own!), it certainly puts its finger on one of the things I despise most about wars: Those who decide that they're justified seldom end up having to wade through blood and suffering and wear the scars.
Of course, that's all bleeding-heart sentimentalism and in reality...
WT*, I spend too much time over at politics_forum. In reality, it sucks that someone who goes as "military leader" spends his weekends in comfort while those he's supposed to lead can count themselves lucky if they may phone their families.
